When TRON (1982) came out, it was moderate success that was actually denied an Oscar nomination for visual effects because the powers-that-be had decided that using a computer for VFX was ‘cheating.’
Oh, how the world has changed in 28 years…
I remember building Tron vehicles out of Legoes when I was a kid.
I remember using my Frisbee as a disc and would fight people with it.
I used to think the light-cycles would make the coolest toys in the world.
And I used to think that a world inside a computer would be the coolest thing ever.
Now, I think that TRON: LEGACY – the sequel to TRON – 28 years later – with Jeff Bridges back as Flynn – with Bruce Boxleitner back in some compacity – and with awesome lightcycles —-
— I think that TRON: LEGACY could be the coolest thing ever….. well, at least until the NEXT coolest thing ever.
