I’ve been on vacation for – oh, maybe the last two months or so – and am gearing up for an amazing weekend at the movies with THE EXPENDABLES and SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD about to redeem most of the summer. Well, except for that INCEPTION thing.

But this little tidbit I picked up from AINT IT COOL NEWS hit me in the sweet spot. I became a fan of blaxploitation films during college, and although I’m the furthest thing from an expert, I still get a giggle out of seeing others nurture their itch with this genre.

So – a blaxploitation film called BLACKSTAR WARRIOR that makes the STAR WARS universe all about Lando Calrissian? Um… BILLY DEE! BILLY DEE! BILLY DEE! Thank you ‘weird world’ for making this exist.

Seems this was making the rounds at Comic-Con… here’s a trailer for BLACKSTAR WARRIOR.

Honestly… that’s not bad. And I agree with Harry Knowles. Best line in the trailer is “space ain’t BLACK enough to hide from him.”

Now – if your itch for this needs more scratching – I’ve embedded a few clips of a supposed documentary about the making of this ‘long lost’ film.

I’m taking it all in tongue in cheek of course… and I love that the main investor in this ‘film’ named Solomon ‘Shecky’ Feldman. Is it live or is it Memorex? Don’t know. Don’t care. You judge.
